There has been studied the degradation stage by corrosion of the metallic screen of the power cables afferent to some underground power lines (UPL), that are situated in different type of soils, with and without d.c. stray currents. And so, by electrochemical measurements, has been determinate the screen / soil potentials (Ecor), and by electric measurements, has been determinate the screen / soil and the hot wire / screen insulating resistance and the electrical continuity of the screen, too. There was also effectuated the visual analyses at defected cables, in the area where those fault were located. From those analyses it results that the risk of electrical faults are higher at those cables that the metallic screen has an advanced corrosion.
