Natural or synthetic antioxidants are used in the formula of dermatocosmetics, which contain components with different unsaturation degree and are exposed to auto oxidative / oxidative, to conserve the initial properties and maintain their stability in time. The paper presents the behavior of some common antioxidants -vitamin A, C, E and their derivatives (tocopherol acetate, ascorbyl phosphate), coenzyme Q10-in destructive conditions. The stability of the antioxidants, exposed at temperatures in the field 40-80°C and in the presence of peroxidic radicals, was evaluated based on the changes of antioxidant activity determined through chemiluminescence, on the structural changes determined through FT-IR and UV-VIS-NIR spectroscopy and, in some cases, on the changes of chromatic characteristics.
