Kinetic study on mesophase transformation is very important for practical applications because the mesophase transformation is a key process to control, improve and optimize the utilization process of a pitch (CTP). Generally, researchers have been evaluating the kinetic parameters of a carbon system, by characterizing the CTP system evolution in different stages of its carbonization process, during mesophase transformation. If the characterization of a carbonized system is desired, this aspect becomes complex because of unknowingly of intermediate evolution of the system. Performing the Image Processing Analysis method on different micrographs from Optical Microscopy of a carbonized system, we have developed an efficient method for kinetic study of a system which passed, during its carbonization, by a liquid-crystal phase or mesophase.
