The treatment of phenolic waters resulted from a petrochemical platform was studied. The purpose of this work was to simulate the real industrial process under the Monod model and to determine if the model fits with the real process. The Monod model used to simulate the industrial process was based on equation Jarzebski et al. The biodegradation time was determined by the model at an initial phenols concentration of 23.4 mg•l-1 and using pure cultures with Pseudomonas putida for phenols biodegradation. Then, the biodegradation time was determined at the same initial phenols concentration of 23.4 mg/l, but using a mixed culture of bacteria, Pseudomonas putida, Pseudomonas various and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The results were compared with the experimental time. The model provided good results compared to the real industrial process when selecting a pure culture of Pseudomonas putida for phenols biodegradation.
