Rezumat:
For modelling an unbounded area in many engineering problems (for example, in geomechanics) infinite elements can be used. This paper presents basic information about infinite elements and how a new type of infinite element derived. This element is derived for one-dimensional problems and extended for three-dimensional problems. The elasto/plastic formulation of the material stiffness is described. A brief example is presented, and the results are compared with an analytical solution and a solution obtained by the FEM software, ANSYS.
