Results of 131I therapy in hyperthyroidism at 7-18 years of age.

Twenty-seven patients aged 7-18 years, with hyperthyroidism and diffuse goite received 131I and 125I in doses of 200-350 muCi/gm of gland. The drug was given in a unique dose to 14 patients and fractioned (maximum 4 doses) to the rest. The total maximum dose was 15 mCi. Doubtless recovery was obtained in 25 cases and probable improvement in another 2 (the patients were lost track of). Exophthalmometric values did not increase in any of the patients

IONIC PERMEABILITIES OD RECONSTITUTED COLLAGEN MEMBRANES

Membrane with a large content of collagen were used as a model of electrically charged membranes. The transmembrane potential was measured in case of the spontaneous diffusion of one or two cationic species, respectively.A simplified form of the Teorell-Meyer Sievers theory was used to compute the junction potential and the effective fixed electric charge density.Membranes of different thickness were studied. The net fixed electric charge reversed

LATE RECURRENCES OF GRAVES HYPERTHYROIDISM AFTER SURGICAL THERAPY

Introduction: A long term follow - up of thyrotoxic patients treated sur- gically is required not only for early detection of hypothyroid patients with poor compliance with treatment, but also for revealing late postoperative hyperthyroidism. Regarding the prevalence of postoperative hyperthyroidism, two previous studies found that 16% relapsed after 20 years (Kalk WJ, 1978) and 19% of post - thyroidectomy thyrotoxicosis occurred 20 -50 years after

CORRELATION OF POST RAIT 131I SCINTIGRAPHY WITH TUMOR MARKERS LEVELS IN DIFFERENTIATED THYROID CANCER PATIENTS

Background: After total thyroidectomy and radioiodine ablation therapy in patients with differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC), thyroglobulin (Tg), anti-thyroglobulin antibodies (Anti TgAb) and post-therapeutic 131I scan (whole body scan-WBS) are essential for the risk stratification and for further management. Stimulated serum Tg levels on thyroid hormone (T4) withdrawal are usually well correlated with 131I imaging results. Changes in thyroglobulin
