The successful candidate will integrate the geomagnetic modeling group in Section 2.3 and collaborate with German Aerospace Center (DLR), Institute of Planetary Research, Berlin. He/She will have access to the most recent CHAMP satellite data set and Mars Global Surveyor (MGS) data. His/Her work will focus first on developing new tools and techniques for analyzing satellite data in order to improve Earths magnetic field models of the lithosphere.
