Asociația Ad Astra a anunțat câștigătorii Premiilor Ad Astra 2022: http://premii.ad-astra.ro/. Proiectul și-a propus identificarea și popularizarea modelelor de succes, a rezultatelor excepționale ale cercetătorilor români din țară și din afara ei.

Asociatia Ad Astra a cercetatorilor romani lanseaza BAZA DE DATE A CERCETATORILOR ROMANI DIN DIASPORA. Scopul acestei baze de date este aceea de a stimula colaborarea dintre cercetatorii romani de peste hotare dar si cu cercetatorii din Romania. Cercetatorii care doresc sa fie nominalizati in aceasta baza de date sunt rugati sa trimita un email la cristian.presura@gmail.com

Geoscientist at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (Associated Scientist w/ Tenure). Educated in Geology in Romania (Diploma, Bucharest University) and Oceanography in the US (MSc and PhD, State University of New York at Stony Brook). Leader and participant in expeditions on the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian oceans and expeditions in the Americas, Asia and Europe. Studies published in leading scientific journals such as Nature, Geology, Nature Geoscience, Proceedings of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, Geophysical Research Letters. His contributions reported in National Geographic, Discovery, New York Times and other mass media venues include: discovery of a new type of delta, the first accurate determination of the age of the Danube Delta, demonstrating the catastrophic effects of deforestation on the evolution of the Danube delta and the Black Sea and analyses of the climatic causes of the development and decline of the ancient civilizations of India. Giosan was a Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Aberdeen, a CICOR Postdoctoral Scholar at WHOI and a NAFSA Baltic and East European Program awardee at SUNY Stony Brook. He is an Editorial Board member for the journal Anthropocene.He initiated and co-founded the Ad Astra Association of Romanian researchers in 2000 and published analyses and OpEd texts in leading Romanian media such as "Romania Curata", "Romania Libera" and "Dilema."

Liviu Giosan este cercetator in oceanografie la Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. Dupa licenta in geologie la Bucuresti, si-a luat doctoratul la State University of New York.

A condus si participat la expeditii in Pacific, Atlantic si Oceanul Indian si pe patru continente.

Studiile sale au fost publicate in jurnale stiintifice de prim rang precum: Nature, Geology, Nature Geoscience, Proceedings of the US National Academy of Sciences, Geophysical Research Letters.

Contributiile sale, semnalate in printre altele in National Geographic, Discovery, New York Times includ: descoperirea unui nou tip de delta, prima determinare de precizie a varstei deltei Dunarii, demonstrarea unui deficit fundemantal de sedimente pentru delte in contextul cresterii nivelului marii in viitorul apropiat, demonstrarea efectelor catastrofice a deforestarilor asupra evolutiei deltei si Marii Negre si analiza cauzelor climatice ale dezvoltarii si decaderii civilizatiilor Indiei vechi.

Giosan a fost Honorary Research Fellow la Universitatea din Aberdeen, CICOR Postdoctoral Scholar la WHOI and castigator al premiului NAFSA Baltic and East European Program la SUNY Stony Brook. Este membru in comintetul editorial al jurnalelor stiintifice Anthropocene si Frontiers in Earth Science. Giosan este membru al Comitetului Consultatiiv American pentru Programul International de Foraj Stiintific Marin si membru in Panelul pentru Reconstructia Deltei Mississippi.

In 2000, a initiat si co-fondat Asociatia Ad Astra a cercetatorilor romani. A publicat analize si texte de opinie pe “Romania Curata”, in "Adevarul", “Romania libera” si “Dilema”.
