flag Details:
After a BA in English Literature at SUNY Plattsburgh (2003) and an MA in Eng. Lit. at the University of Ottawa (2004), I am currently pursuing my doctoral studies in the English Renaissance, with a focus on religious literature by women. My period of interest is roughly between 1550-1699, but I have a secondary interest in medieval women writers as well (especially proto-feminists and visionaries/mystics). My dissertation is concerned with situating women writers in a cultural and religious landscape which allowed for little public activity and with the exploration of the ideological changes they proposed through the period's most influential discourse - religion. Past conference papers focused on Christine de Pizan, Heloise, and Aemilia Lanyer; more work on Heloise is expected to be presented next year.
