Florin Garoi a absolvit Facultatea de Fizica a Universitatii din Bucuresti in anul 2000. A realizat si studiile de masterat la aceeasi Universitate si le-a absolvit in anul 2002 cu o teza pe tema masurarilor de deplasari sub-nanometrice cu un interferometru Michelson pentru antene de unde gravitationale.
In 2000 a inceput sa lucreze ca asistent cercetare in cadrul Institutului National pentru Fizica Laserilor, Plasmei si Radiatiei.
Activitati in afara tarii:
1. Vizitator la Universitate de Vest a Australiei timp de un an (2002 - 2003). A lucrat in Perth cu Grupul de Unde Gravitationale
2. In Mai 2006 a luat parte la cursul de Metrologie si Constante Fundamentale tinut de Scoala Internationala de Fizica "Enrico Fermi" la Varenna, Italia
Domenii de interes: interferometria optica, interferometria laser pentru unde gravitationale, metrologie optica si testare non-invaziva
Details:
Florin Garoi obtained his BcS from the University of Bucharest in 2000. He also obtained his MS in physics in 2002 at the same University, with a thesis on sub-nanometric displacements measurement with a Michelson interferometer for gravitatinal waves antennas.
In 2000 he started to work as a research assistant at the Laser Department of the National Institute for Laser, Plasma and Radiation Physics (Romania).
Some overseas activity:
1.Visiting academic at the University of Western Australia for one year (2002 - 2003). He worked in Perth within the Gravity Wave Group
2.In May 2006 he attended the International School of Physics "Enrico Fermi", the course on Metrology and Fundamental Constants held in Varenna, Italy
His interests include: optical interferometry, laser interferometry for gravitational waves, optical metrology and non-destructive testing
