Asociația Ad Astra a anunțat câștigătorii Premiilor Ad Astra 2022: http://premii.ad-astra.ro/. Proiectul și-a propus identificarea și popularizarea modelelor de succes, a rezultatelor excepționale ale cercetătorilor români din țară și din afara ei.

Asociatia Ad Astra a cercetatorilor romani lanseaza BAZA DE DATE A CERCETATORILOR ROMANI DIN DIASPORA. Scopul acestei baze de date este aceea de a stimula colaborarea dintre cercetatorii romani de peste hotare dar si cu cercetatorii din Romania. Cercetatorii care doresc sa fie nominalizati in aceasta baza de date sunt rugati sa trimita un email la cristian.presura@gmail.com

Theodor Dan Popescu

Dr. Theodor Dan Popescu is born on July 4, 1949 in Rosiori de Vede, Teleorman, Romania. He received M.Sc. degree and Eng.Sc.D. (PhD) degree, both in Automatic Control, from "Politehnica" University of Bucharest in 1972 and 1983, respectively. Since 1972 he was with Central Institute for Management and Informatics, now National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics, Bucharest. He had different functions and responsabilities and presently he is senior research scientist of first degree; he was member of the Scientific Council in the period 1995-2006, and president of Scientific Council in the period 2006-2009.

Since 1975 till 2000 he held various teaching positions at the Department of Automatic Control and Computers, "Politehnica" University of Bucharest, Academy of Military High Studies, Bucharest and at the Center for Training in Informatics, Bucharest.

The research activity was mainly concentrated in the fields of system identification and parameter estimation, adaptive and self-tuning control, time series analysis, signal processing, change detection and diagnosis in signals and systems, independent component analysis, time-frequency analysis, with application in industrial process control, vibration analysis, geophysics, civil engineering, analysis of biomedical signals.

He is author or co-author of some software tools in the fields mentioned above and of more than 140
papers published in international journals IFAC J Automatica, Journal of Mathematical Modelling and Simulation in System Analysis, Annual Review in Automatic Programming (continued as Annual Reviews in Control), International Journal of Innovative Computing, Information and Control, Applied Mathematical Modelling, Mathematics and Computers in Simulation, Neural Network World, or in volumes published by Pergamon Press, IEEE Press, Springer, Kluwer Academic Publishers, ICSC-NAISO Academic Press, AMSE Press. Also, he is author sau co-author of the following books: "Modeling and Forecasting of Time Series", Academic Publishing House,Bucharest, 1985, "Computer-Aided Identification of Systems", Technical Publishing House, Bucharest, 1987, "Adaptive and Flexible Control of Industrial Processes", Technical Publishing House, Bucharest, 1988, "Practice of Modeling and Forecasting of Time Series. Box-Jenkins Approach", Technical Publishing House, Bucharest, 1991, "Time Series. Applications in System Analysis", Technical Publishing House, Bucharest, 2000.

He has been awarded with "Tudor Tanasescu" Prize of the Romanian Academy on 1995 for the works in the field of detection of changes in dynamics of signals and systems, General Association of
Engineers in Romania Prize on 2000 in the field of Information Technology for the book "Time Series. Applications in Systems Analysis" and received one of the prizes offered for the best
papers presented at the Fourth ICSC International Conference on Soft Computing and Intelligent Systems for Industry, Paisley, Scotland, UK, June 26-29, 2001. He received from Australian Research Council (ARC) citation as "expert of international standing". He served as member of some International Program Committees of international conferences and symposia, in the framework of IFAC, IEEE, ICSC-NAISO, etc., chair person and organizer of some invited sessions.

He is member of the Association of Former Scholarship Holders of the DAAD since 1993, Of the JSPS Alumni since 2011, of the IFAC Romanian National Committee, since 1995 and of the GDNet since 2003, member of the IEEE Control Systems Society and IEEE Signal Processing Society, since 1997 and Senior Member since 2002. He was member of IFAC Technical Committee SAFEPROCESS (1996-1999) and of the IEEE Industrial Process Control Committee (1998-2002). He was granted by Academia Sinica (1988), The Royal Society (1992), DAAD (1992, 1995, 1999), JSPS (1996, 1999), Melbourne University (2002), CERGE-EI (2002), Soros Foundation (1994, 1997), Spatial Co Kuwait (2009), ICONIP’2012, Doha, Qatar (2012).

He held conferences and seminars in the Institute of Systems Science, Beijing, Institute of Technology, Beijing, University of Lancaster, Wuppertal University, Kyushu Institute of Technology, Oita University, Saga University, Tottori University, Kyoto Institute of Technology, CERGE-EI Prague and Spatial Co. Kuwait.
