Detalii:
Stresul oxidativ celular este prezent in numeroase patologii ca de exemplu in boli neurodegenerative, soc septic, infarct miocardic, accident vascular cerebral acut sau ateroscleroza. NO indeplineste roluri importante in modularea tonusului vascular, in apararea imunitara, in fiziologia aparatului reproducator sau in memorie.
Details:
Oxidative stress is an important component of many pathologies, including neurodegeneration, septic shock, stroke, myocardial infarction, or atherosclerosis. Nitric oxide (NO) is free radical gas that is synthesized by living cells. NO performs important roles in vascular relaxation, immune defense, sexual function and memory. NO has been shown to inhibit oxidative stress, either directly (i.e., antioxidant action) or via cellular signaling pathways (e.g., soluble guanylate cyclase/cGMP pathway). NO has also been shown to contribute to oxidative stress through peroxynitrite, the product of the diffusion-controlled reaction between NO and superoxide radical anion.
