Details:
OLD INFORMATION: I've graduated in 1985, MScMechEng in the Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest (20,000 student National University), Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Internal Combustion Engine Dept. with the subject: Finite Element Method and Photoelasticity Study of Thermo-Mechanical Stress in a Diesel Engine Piston. 9.47/10.00 -A+ deg.
In 1997 Doctor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Diploma, (A+ degree), subject: The Air Unsteady Motion in the Meridian Plane of the IC Engine Cylinder, CFD and Study by LDV and a Rapid Compression-Expansion Machine in Japan. Diploma from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, Supervisor: Prof. Dr. D. Taraza, Wayne State University - USA, Prof. Dr. K. Nishiwaki, Rits University - Japan.
After the MSME graduation I've joined the automotive industry as an Engine Manufacturing & Reliability Engineer, working on the design of a new carburetor and manufacturing technology for engine parts: s.i engine 2500 cc, c.e. 2700 cc. Engine endurance dyno & car proving ground testing.
Engine Design Engineer I had more research opportunities but in a different field: Computational studies for 1300 HP locomotive engine (175 mm bore): Strength calculus of the locomotive engine fan. Air flow through the radiator - measurement. Calculus of the pressure distribution in the engine oil system; MTU396 (165 mm bore): Torsional vibration of engine crankshaft + Vulcan coupling + generator; 8NVD (200 mm bore) - design of engine parts. Endurance - dyno testing.
Engine Research Engineer position - The National Research Institute for Thermal Engines, Bucharest - Romania, Research on s.i. engines 1000-2500 cc and ce 1300-10,000 cc, new pistons & separate combustion chamber, new EFI - engine mapping, double intake manifolds, stratified charge, tumble motion, gas analysis. Engine dyno, noise measurement.
At the beginning of nineties, I considered is the time to start a PhD. But the condition to get a position was to become faculty in the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Internal Combustion Engines Dept.
I taught:
a) The Dynamics of IC Engines, Torsional Vibration of the Crankshafts, the Balancing of IC Engines, advanced graduate course.
b) Design, Construction and Manufacturing of the IC Engines and Turbines, undergraduate intermediate course;
c) Control of Thermal Processes in IC Engines, introductory course
Tutorial & labs in the field of IC Engines, supervisor for students MSME thesis.
Consulting for automotive industry. 500 running hours engine testing as principal investigator on engines as: MAN, MTU, Renault, Citroen, Yanmar, Maybach, SKL, Fiat.
I am the author of more than 60 papers and studies in the IC Engine field and of three published books:
1) " Modeling Unsteady Flows in IC Engines "; ( main author)
2)" Internal Combustion Engines - Marine Engines, Dynamics" ; (co-author)
3) "Internal Combustion Engines - Marine Engines, Modern Concepts in Design and Construction; ( co-author)
In manuscript: " NVH IC Engines" (main author).
Main cooperation:
