Structural Performances of Thermoplastic Manufactured Parts

Thermoplastics are widely used for engineering application and customer goods. One of the application area is automotive industry. The passengers’ compartment is an example of using high quality materials and advanced design solution in order to achieve aesthetic interiors and performance when safety is the issue. The impact of the passenger’s head with the cockpit module is studied by experimental and numerical simulation. Material models are

Corrosion of Stainless Steels with “Soft” Martensitic Structure

One of the most efficient methods for prevention or slowing down the corrosion is the improved selection of chemical resistance of the employed material and the optimization of the microstructure by adequate heat treatments. The present work is concerned with characterizing the corrosion resistance of four martensitic stainless steels, cast by SC UCM Resita after genuine recipe and having a content of (13…17)% chromium and (0…4)% nickel. Before

Some Local Problems in Laminated Composite Structures

Failure mechanisms for composite materials and especially for laminated composites are different and more complex than for homogeneous and isotropic materials. That is why modeling and analysis of such structures are done having as main goal determination of the local stress states in the zones where high stress gradients occur: supports, points where load are applied, geometric discontinuities, junctions etc. In this paper the authors propose a

Determinarea prin calcul numeric a parametrilor functionali ai sistemelor ultraacustice folosite la sudarea cu ultrasunete a materialelor compozite inteligente

Analytical computation of ultrasonic transducers is a very complicated task. Its framework is the theory of elastic waves propagation in magnetostrictive, electrostrictive and piezostrictive medium and a series of constraints that need to be satisfied so that the optimum vibration modes can be found out for efficient use. The use of Finite Element Methods (FEM) allows the determination and optimization of design and functional parameters of ultra-acoustic

Contributii teoretice si experimentale privind influenta parametrilor acustici in procesul de sudare cu ultrasunete

This paper presents the possibilities of creating weldings for various products made of inteligent composite materials. The acoustical parameters and their influence on the quality of the weldings are analysed from the large domain of technological, mechanical and acoustical parameters of the welding process. Furthermore, the authors present the welding process of an inteligent car stop.

Influence of Carbon and Nitrogen Concentration on the Friction Welding of Steels

The paper analyzes the characteristic features of building up joinings by friction welding between carburized and nitrided steels having a carbon or nitrogen concentration gradient in the cross section. The metallographic examinations, electronic microprobe investigations and hardness tests allow to appreciate the quality of the welded joints. In the joining interface, the material enriched with carbon, nitrogen and axial diffusion were evidenced.

The Effect of Nikel from Stainless Steels with 13% Chromium and 0.10% Carbon on the Resistance of Erosion by Cavitation

The paper presents and analyzed the results obtained by testing to cavitation erosion four stainless steels samples, containing maximum 0.1% carbon, 13% chromium and variable quantities of nickel (between 0 and 6%). The purpose of the experimental work is to clarify the effect of nickel upon microstructure and cavitation erosion resistance of the material, having in mind the final goal to obtain an improved alloy for manufacturing hydraulic turbine

Cavitation Erosion Characteristics of Stainles steels

Paper scientifically substantiates the basic criteria in designing the chemical composition of stainless steels 17-4 P.H. with controlled transformation. All the new designed steels for hydraulic turbines are compulsory tested to cavitation erosion in two states: putting into solution quenching followed by refrigeration and aging through tempering or putting into solution quenching followed by primary and secondary aging. In this research, after

Comparative Researches Regarding the Stress State in a Strain Gauges Supported Plate, Charged with Hydrostatic Pressure

In the paper, the results of an experimental study undertaken by strain gauge technique, regarding stress state in the plates hydraulically loaded, rested in points, are presented. Such plates are largely utilized in the steam, boiler construction and in the equipment construction in process industry. Experimental results are compared with those obtained by calculus relations applications existent in the reference materials. In the end of the paper
