Influence of Copper Content and Ligand Type from the Precursor Solution Used forCopper-dialkyl-dithio-carbamate (CDDC) Treatment of Wood

Copper dimethyl(diethyl) dithiocarbamate (CDDC) has been tested and proven to be an effective wood preservative. The following study was performed in order to understand the influence of copper content, ethanolamine type used in the Cu-precursor and the kind of alkyl dithiocarbamate ligand on the structure, crystallinity, penetration and bioefficiency of the CDDC. X-ray diffraction (XRD), environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM), leaching

Influence of La2O3 Promoter on the Structure of MnOx/SiO2 Catalysts

X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis have been used to characterize the structure of a La2O3 promoted MnOx/SiO2 catalyst, before and after its utilization in ethylbenzene (EB) oxidative dehydrogenation. MnOx/SiO2 and MnOx/La2O3/SiO2 catalysts were prepared by pore volume impregnation, using aqueous solutions of i) La3+-nitrate at an atomic ration of La/Si = 0.08, and ii) Mn2+-nitrate at an atomic ratio of Mn/Si

Structure/Activity Correlation for un-promoted and CeO2-promoted MnO2/SiO2 Catalysts

The goal of this study was to understand the structure-activity relationship for unpromoted and ceria-promoted MnOx/SiO2 catalysts used in CO oxidation. SiO2 and CeO2-promoted SiO2 (20% CeO2) were used as supports to prepare MnOx/SiO2 catalysts with various manganese (Mn) loadings. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) data indicated a higher Mn dispersion on ceria-promoted than on unpromoted MnOx/SiO2 catalysts. Analysis

Characterization of Mixed Amorphous/Crystalline Cerium Oxide Supported on SiO2

Various analyses techniques were employed for characterization of mixed amorphous/crystalline CeO2 supported on SiO2 catalysts prepared by incipient wetness using i) Ce4+-ammonium nitrate (CeqN) aqueous solution, and by grafting using ii) Ce4+-methoxyethoxide (CeqA) alcoholic solution. X-ray diffraction (XRD), temperature programmed reduction (TPR), and transmission electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray analysis (TEM-EDX) were used to obtain

Ethylbenzene Oxidative Dehydrogenation on MnOx/SiO2 Catalysts

Supported MnOx on high surface area SiO2 (300 m2/g) catalysts were successfully used in ethylbenzene oxidative dehydrogenation. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were employed to characterize the structure of fresh and used MnOx/SiO2 catalysts. The MnOx catalysts were prepared using the pore volume impregnation method, with MnO2 loadings varying from 0.7% wt. (Mn/Si = 0.005, atomic ratio) to 30% wt. (Mn/Si = 0.14).

A Novel Method for Preparing Anode Cermets for Solid Oxide Fuel Cells

A new method for fabrication of metal-cermet anodes in solid-oxide fuel cells (SOFC) has been developed. Highly porous, yttria-stabilized-zirconia (YSZ) films were prepared using a mixture of Si-stabilized (

Steam-Reforming of Methane on CeO2-Promoted Pd and Ni Catalyst

Nickel(Ni) supported on CeO2-promoted Al2O3 were used as catalysts in the methane steam reforming reaction. Arrhenius plots at steady-state conditions are presented as a function of Ni and CeO2 structure. The reaction rates are two orders of magnitude higher on Ni/CeO2/-Al2O3 than on single component catalyst, which is attributed to a catalytic synergism between Ni and CeO2.
