On a dynamical system with multiple chaotic attractors

In this paper, we carefully reexamine the chaotic RF model, first studied by Rabinovich and Fabrikant [1979], and have found many new and rich complex dynamics of the model that were mostly not reported before. The chaotic RF model has proved to be a great challenge to classical numerical methods, in the sense that most classical numerical methods have not been very successful in the study of complex dynamics of this special RF model. Therefore,

Access AIP Articles Related to the 2008 Nobel Prize in Physics

AIP congratulates Yoichiro Nambu, Makoto Kobayashi, and Toshihide Maskawa for sharing the 2008 Nobel Prize in physics. We have made a few related articles available for free for interested faculty and students. Please see http://journals.aip.org/NobelTopic2008.html for the article links. These articles pertain to charge-parity violation, a "broken symmetry" that is the subject of the research cited for the Nobel Prize. All articles are freely available,

Alternated Julia sets and connectivity properties

In this work we present the alternated Julia sets, obtained by alternated iteration of two maps of the quadratic family and prove analytically and computationally that these sets can be connected, disconnected or totally disconnected verifying the known Fatou-Julia theorem in the case of polynomials of degree greater than two. Few examples are presented.

Random parameter-switching synthesis of a class of hyperbolic attractors

In [2] the attractors of a considered dissipative continuous-time system were syn- thesized using deterministic manners for parameter-switches. In this paper we extend these results and prove numerically that the parameter-switching techniques work even if random switching manners are utilized. The synthesized attractor is identical to one of the existing attractors obtained by integration of the mathematical model for a precise parameter value.
