Florina Raicu

My specific research interest is the study of the human transcriptome based on the characterization global gene expression profiling of normal and pathological male germ cells by microarray analysis and the effect of the Y chromosome genes on brain development. I investigated some Y chromosome haplogrups associated with spermatogenic failure in the Romanian population and the genetic background of male infertility based on the Y chromosome microdeletion analysis. Detalii:
Domeniul principal de cercetare este studierea transcriptomului uman bazata pe profilele de expresie genica globala ale celulelor germinale masculine normale si patologice cu ajutorul tehnologiei microarray precum si efectul genelor din cromozomul Y asupra dezvoltarii creierului. Am investigat unele haplogrupuri ale cromozomului Y asociate cu defectele spermatogenezei in populatia Romaniei si bazele genetice ale infertilitatii masculine prin analiza microdeletiilor cromozomului Y. Sunt de asemenea interesata de studiul mutatiilor din receptorul pentru androgeni ce conduc la aparitia sindromului insensibilitatii la androgeni, studiul mutatiilor din gena PAX9 asociate cu defecte in formarea dentitiei, investigatii genetice asupra genei ATP7B ale carei mutatii stau la baza aparitiei bolii Wilson si de noi metode legate de analiza a ADN fosil.
