premii Ad Astra

Asociația Ad Astra a anunțat câștigătorii Premiilor Ad Astra 2022: http://premii.ad-astra.ro/. Proiectul și-a propus identificarea și popularizarea modelelor de succes, a rezultatelor excepționale ale cercetătorilor români din țară și din afara ei.

Asociatia Ad Astra a cercetatorilor romani lanseaza BAZA DE DATE A CERCETATORILOR ROMANI DIN DIASPORA.

flag Details:
I graduated the Faculty of Physics, University of Bucharest, in 1997. I had my masters degree in Biophysics in 1999 and Ph.D. in Physics in 2005 ("Cum Laudae" honors), also at the University of Bucharest.

During my Ph.D. I was a research assistant and then researcher in the Structural Biochemistry Group led by Dr. Andrei J. Petrescu, within the Institute of Biochemistry of the Romanian Academy, Bucharest. This is where I conducted most of my Ph.D. work.

I was a postdoctoral fellow at NIDDK/NIH during July 2005-April 2007, in the group headed by Dr. Lawrence Tabak.

I was a postdoctoral fellow at the Laboratory of Cellular Biology, NCI/NIH, during April 2007-July 2010 in the group headed by. Dr. H. Robert Guy.

I am currently researcher within the Department of Structural Biochemistry and Bioinformatics at the Institute of Biochemistry of the Romanian Academy.
Research area: protein modelling and bioinformatics.

Main results:
- protein 3D structure prediction by homology modeling and analysis of structure-function relationship
- protein dynamics and role of conformational changes in function and substrate binding
- development of a database of structural information on glycoproteins and its use in the comparative analysis of glycoproteins at various structural levels
- protein secondary structure prediction and protein-ligand interaction prediction by neural networks
