Received the Diploma in Electromechanical Engineering (1995) from University of Resita (Romania) and the M.Sc. (1996) and Ph.D. degree (2001) in Electrical Engineering from the “Politehnica” University of Timisoara, (Romania).
2001-2003: Research Assistant Professor in the Institute of Energy Technology, Aalborg University (Denmark).
Since October 2003: Lecturer at the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Nottingham, (UK).
Current research interests include power electronics and AC drives, with special focus on direct power conversion (matrix converters) and power converters for interfacing renewable energy sources (photovoltaic) and energy storage devices to the power grid. Dr. Klumpner has more than 80 papers published in international conferences and 20 journal papers.
Dr. Klumpner received the Isao Takahashi Power Electronics Award in 2005 at the International Power Electronics Conference organized by the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan (IEEJ) in Niigata. He is also a recipient of the 2007 IEEE Richard M. Bass Outstanding Young Power Electronics Engineer Award.
