Asociația Ad Astra a anunțat câștigătorii Premiilor Ad Astra 2022: http://premii.ad-astra.ro/. Proiectul și-a propus identificarea și popularizarea modelelor de succes, a rezultatelor excepționale ale cercetătorilor români din țară și din afara ei.

Asociatia Ad Astra a cercetatorilor romani lanseaza BAZA DE DATE A CERCETATORILOR ROMANI DIN DIASPORA. Scopul acestei baze de date este aceea de a stimula colaborarea dintre cercetatorii romani de peste hotare dar si cu cercetatorii din Romania. Cercetatorii care doresc sa fie nominalizati in aceasta baza de date sunt rugati sa trimita un email la cristian.presura@gmail.com

Mihai Mihaescu este cercetator, specialist in dinamica fluidelor si aeroacustica in Departamentul de Mecanica al Institutului Regal de Tehnologie (KTH), Stockholm , Suedia. Este licentiat al Facultatii de Mecanica, Specialitatea Autovehicule Rutiere, Universitatea Tehnica din Cluj-Napoca (anul 1999), si absolvent de Studii Aprofundate in Ingineria Mecanica al aceleasi universitati in anul 2000. Si-a obtinut titlul de Doctor in Stiinte, specialitatea Mecanica Fluidelor, in anul 2005 de la Universitatea din Lund (Lund University), Suedia. Inainte de a detine actuala pozitie la KTH, Dr. Mihaescu a fost angajat pentru o perioada de sase ani al Departamentului de Inginerie Aerospatiala, Laboratorul de Dinamica Gazelor si Propulsie al Universitatii din Cincinnati, USA. Domeniile sale de cercetare se axeaza pe metode numerice de calcul pentru mecanica fluidelor si calcule aeroacustice (CFD/CAA), dezvoltare si optimizare de CFD/CAA software cu aplicatii in propulsie, aerodinamica, controlul curgerii, metode de atenuare a zgomotului, studiul interactiunii dintre fluide si solide, si dinamica curgerii in sisteme biologice. Studiile sale fac parte din proiecte dezvoltate in parteneriat cu lideri in industrie (GE Aviation, GE Global Research, Boeing, Halliburton) dar si in medicina (University of Cincinnati-Medical Center, Cincinnati Children's Hospital-Medical Center, Karolinska Hospital-Solna, Stanford University School of Medicine). Dr. Mihaescu este membru al "American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA)" si al "Acoustic Society of America (ASA)". Este recenzent pentru "AIAA Journal", "Journal of Applied Acoustics", "Journal of Biomechanics", "Journal of Biomechanics and Modeling in Mechanobiology" si "American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME) Journal of Biomechanical Engineering".

Mihai Mihaescu is a research engineer, fluid dynamics and aeroacoustics specialist at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Department of Mechanics, Stockholm, Sweden. He holds a Ph.D. Degree (2005) in Engineering / Fluid Mechanics from Lund University, Sweden, a M.Sc. Degree (2000) and a B.Sc. Degree (1999) from Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Romania. Prior to his appointment at KTH, he held a Research Assistant Professor Faculty position at the School of Aerospace Systems, Gas Dynamics and Propulsion Laboratory, at the University of Cincinnati, USA. His research is focused on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling and Computational Aeroacoustics (CAA) including code/software development and optimization to address problems in various research areas like propulsion, external aerodynamics, flow separation control, noise suppression methods, fluid-structure interactions, and biomedical fluid dynamics. His research experience was gained in projects involving partnerships with leaders in industry (General Electric-GE Aviation, GE Global Research, Boeing, Halliburton) and medical sciences (University of Cincinnati-Medical Center, Cincinnati Children's Hospital-Medical Center, Karolinska Hospital-Solna, Stanford University School of Medicine). In parallel with his research activity, he has been involved in the process of writing several grant proposals (including NASA and National Institutes of Health-NIH) that were highly scored or accepted. Regarding his teaching experience, he has been teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels in the fields of Mechanical Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, and Aeroacoustics. Dr. Mihaescu is a member of the American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and of the Acoustic Society of America (ASA). He is referee for AIAA Journal, Journal of Applied Acoustics, Journal of Biomechanics, Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering, Journal of Biomechanics and Modeling in Mechanobiology, and American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME) Journal of Biomechanical Engineering.
