premii Ad Astra

Asociația Ad Astra a anunțat câștigătorii Premiilor Ad Astra 2022: http://premii.ad-astra.ro/. Proiectul și-a propus identificarea și popularizarea modelelor de succes, a rezultatelor excepționale ale cercetătorilor români din țară și din afara ei.

Asociatia Ad Astra a cercetatorilor romani lanseaza BAZA DE DATE A CERCETATORILOR ROMANI DIN DIASPORA.

flag Details:
I graduated from the West University of Timisoara with a Bachelor's degree in Physics and Computer Science. My work there was primarily focused on computational methods in crystal growth and characterization. I obtained my Master's Degree in Physics from the Universite Joseph Fourier, Grenoble, France where I specialized in computational methods for solid state physics. I received my PhD in Electronic and Electrical Engineering/Physics from the University College of London. During this time, I shifted my research to photonics and nanotechnology, specifically, non-linear optical effects in nano-scale plasmonic structures, photonic crystals, meta-surfaces and meta-materials. During my three years at UCL I published 9 (nine) papers on various topics in photonics in nanotechnology and attended over 20 (twenty) international conferences in the same field. I focused mainly on second harmonic generation in metallic nanowires, plasmonic meta-surfaces and nano-scale optical cavities. I also worked with tunable polarisation dependent meta-surfaces and dielectric photonic crystals. I am currently employed by the West University of Timisoara as a research associate in the High Performance Computing Center, where I focus on using HPC resources in large scale simulations of the natural world, as well as a associated Lecturer by the Faculty of Physics.
