Ionut Untea

Ionut Untea is a Research Professor in Western Philosophy at Southeast University, Nanjing, China since 2016. He teaches at undergraduate and graduate levels. He taught previously at the University of La Rochelle in France in the department of Foreign Languages, Arts and Humanities (as ATER- Attaché Temporaire d’Enseignement et de Recherche in 2013 and 2014 and as adjunct professor “contractuel” in 2015). He also held part-time teaching assignments at the University of Evry-Val d’Essone in 2014 and Institute of International Agro-Development (ISTOM), Teilhard de Chardin Centre, Cergy (two months per year from 2012 to 2014). He also had a honorary teaching position in 2009 of Romanian language as part of Association Philotechnique in Paris (notable for having had Victor Hugo among its teaching staff) and in 2008 he taught Romanian language as part of the European program Leonardo for high-school students (Maison Familiale Rurale, Chessy les Mines). He also taught in 2005 as a high-school teacher the discipline Religion at Dacia College, Bucharest.
In 2014-2015 he was appointed as a “boursier d’excellence” for a postdoctoral research on the topic of the Golden Rule in interfaith relations by the Foundation for Interreligious and Intercultural Research and Dialogue (FIIRD) at the University of Geneva. In 2013 he obtained his Doctorate in Modern and Contemporary History of Ideas as part of the doctoral school “Religions and Systems of Thought” of the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes (EPHE), Paris (Supervisor: Hubert Bost). He has a Research Master 2 degree in Political Studies at Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), Paris (2009) under the supervision of Pierre Manent, a Research Master 2 degree in Anglophone Studies at the University Paris 3 Sorbonne Nouvelle (2009, supervisor Franck Lessay), a Research Master 2 degree in the History of Philosophy at the University of Lyon III (2008, supervisor Thierry Gontier). In Romania, at the University of Bucharest, he has a MA degree in Theology “Doctrine and Culture” (2007), an Undergraduate degree in Philosophy (2007) and an Undergraduate degree in Pastoral and Didactic Theology (2005).
During his undergraduate studies he was awarded the Research Prize Dumitru Staniloae by the University of Bucharest, Faculty of Orthodox Theology and Fundatia Editura Bizantina for the best student research paper of 2005 on the concept of Intentionality in Father Dumitru Staniloae’s work. For the 2006-2007 academic year he was awarded the Erasmus grant in order to study at the University Jean Moulin – Lyon III, department of Philosophy and department of Law and Political Science (sent by the Department of Philosophy of the University of Bucharest).
