PhD position available in FZDresden-Rossendorf (PHD’s & thesis)

Deadline
January 1, 2008
Job description
The Institute of Radiochemistry at the Research Center Dresden-Rossendorf invites applications for a PhD student (3 years) available immediately. The salary is according to the German TV-L (50 %).

Tasks:
Abiotic redox processes in the presence of ferrous iron control the mobility of many metals,
metalloids and actinides, and are therefore expected to play a key role for the migration of
radionuclides in sediments. In this framework, you will work on the reduction of Pu and Sb by
ferrous iron sorbed to or contained by mineral surfaces. Chemical and physical processes
associated with redox (e.g. polymerization, nucleation, crystal growth) will be investigated by
XAS and SAX (ESRF, Grenoble, France) and by light scattering methods (FZD, Dresden,
Germany). Mobility and the willingness to acquire the necessary language skills (English,
French, German) are required. In return, we offer a stimulating, international research environment
and the possibility to acquire a dual PhD degree of the TU Dresden and the Université
de Grenoble.

Please send your application including a CV with reference 08/2007 to
