The paper presents an application of risk based inspection concept on boiler components from fossil power plant. It was used the expert system RBI (Risk Based Inspection), named iRiS – Thermo, who was purchased by the ISIM. It is started with first stage which consists of application establishing. The system contains 9 components. Then it is presented the data collection and validation step. There are applied three levels of assessment (screening, intermediate and advanced or detailed). In each assessment step of analysis it is determined the risk matrix, which points out on one hand the failure probability and on the other hand the failure consequences.
At screening analysis it is take into account only design dates, fabrication dates, and putting into operation. At intermediately analysis it is used the approach of A-parameter metallographic method, and at detailed analysis it is used the fatigue and creep dates, from data base of expert system for evaluated steels.
Applying of this new modern approach, allow us to use in safe conditions of assess components and to reduce the costs for inspections and maintenance.
