premii Ad Astra

Asociația Ad Astra a anunțat câștigătorii Premiilor Ad Astra 2022: http://premii.ad-astra.ro/. Proiectul și-a propus identificarea și popularizarea modelelor de succes, a rezultatelor excepționale ale cercetătorilor români din țară și din afara ei.

Asociatia Ad Astra a cercetatorilor romani lanseaza BAZA DE DATE A CERCETATORILOR ROMANI DIN DIASPORA.

MICROSCOPY INVESTIGATION OF CELLULOLYTIC FUNGI ACTION ON COTTON FIBERS

In this paper a microscopy study was presented with focus on the cellulolytic fungi action on cotton fibers physical aspect. Qualitative and quantitative analysis was accomplished based on samples of textile material used as support for Chaetomium globosum and Phanerochaete chrysosporium fungi was carried out. Fiber size and mesh aperture changes were evaluated evidencing more invasive attack of P. chrysosporium compared to C. globosum microorganism.

CAFFEINE – SOLVENT INTERACTION STUDIED BY UV SPECTROMETRY AND MOLECULAR MODELING

Caffeine is known as an important substance in human life with both alimentation and medical issues. Biophysical approach of caffeine molecule was carried out in this study by applying quantum chemical methods and spectral recording. The focus of the present investigation was the evidencing of the solvent action on the electronic absorption transition of caffeine in the near ultraviolet range – for practical applications in extractive industry

EFFECTS OF MICROWAVE EXPOSURE IN MICE EXPERIMENTAL SUBACUTE TESTS

The subtle interaction of electromagnetic field (EMF) with the biological matrix might also involve lipidperoxidative processes. Health effects of low-level EMF were studied in a mice short-term experiment. Animals were exposed to an unmodulated ultra high frequency field with a power density of 1 mW/cm2, producing microwaves (MW) comparable to those emitted by mobile phones. After 15 days of exposure during respectively 1, 2, 4,8, and 12 hours/day,

EYE MOVEMENT RECORDING AND NONLINEAR DYNAMICS ANALYSIS – THE CASE OF SACCADES

Evidence of a chaotic behavioral trend in eye movement dynamics was examined in the case of a saccadic temporal series collected from a healthy human subject. Saccades are high-velocity eye movements of very short duration, their recording being relatively accessible, so that the resulting data series could be studied computationally for understanding the neural processing in a motor system. The aim of this study was to assess the complexity degree

MAGNETIC NANOPARTICLES INFLUENCE ON SOME BACTERIAL CULTURES

Two suspensions of magnetic nanoparticles were prepared based on chemical coprecipitation of magnetite(MN1) and cobalt ferrite (MN2) from iron and respectively iron and cobalt salts, the magnetic powders being coated in sodium oleate for stabilization in deionized water. Microstructural and magnetic characterization was accomplished in both cases by applying standard methods. Two bacterial strains: Staphylococcus aureus – a Gram positive germ,

Computational analysis of kidney scintigrams

he scintigraphic investigation of normal and pathological kidneys was carried out using specialized gamma-camera device from nuclear medicine hospital department. Technetium 90m isotope with gamma radiation emission, coupled with vector molecules for kidney tissues was introduced into the subject body, its dynamics being recorded as data source for kidney clearance capacity. Two representative data series were investigated, corresponding to healthy

Multinets, parallel connections, and Milnor fibrations of arrangements

The characteristic varieties of a space are the jump loci for homology of rank 1 local systems. The way in which the geometry of these varieties may vary with the characteristic of the ground field is reflected in the homology of finite cyclic covers. We exploit this phenomenon to detect torsion in the homology of Milnor fibers of projective hypersurfaces. One tool we use is the interpretation of the degree 1 characteristic varieties of a hyperplane

COMPARISON AMONG THE PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF VARIOUS SUSPENSIONS OF MAGNETITE NANOPARTICLES STABILIZED IN WATER USING DIFFERENT ORGANIC SHELLS

The stability of magnetic nanoparticle suspensions, designed for biomedical purposes can be ensured by coating magnetic cores with various organic shells. In this work, the magnetite powder was successfully dispersed in water by using steric stabilization and electrostatic interactions - with volume fraction ranging between 2.42 and 3.14 %. The mean physical diameter of colloidal nanoparticles was of 9.2 ÷ 11.98 nm with non-magnetic shell of 2.7
