premii Ad Astra

Asociația Ad Astra a anunțat câștigătorii Premiilor Ad Astra 2022: http://premii.ad-astra.ro/. Proiectul și-a propus identificarea și popularizarea modelelor de succes, a rezultatelor excepționale ale cercetătorilor români din țară și din afara ei.

Asociatia Ad Astra a cercetatorilor romani lanseaza BAZA DE DATE A CERCETATORILOR ROMANI DIN DIASPORA.

Defective chromatin recruitment and retention of NHEJ core components in human tumor cells expressing a Cyclin E fragment

Exposure to genotoxic agents, such as ionizing radiation (IR), produces double-strand breaks, repaired predominantly in mammalian cells by non-homologous end-joining (NHEJ). Ku70 was identified as an interacting partner of a proteolytic Cyclin E (CycE) fragment, p18CycE. p18CycE endogenous generation during IR-induced apoptosis in leukemic cells and its stable expression in epithelial tumor cells sensitized to IR. γH2AX IR-induced foci (IRIFs) and

Network of telocytes in the temporomandibular joint disc of rats

The phenotypes of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disc cells range from fibroblasts to chondrocytes. There are relatively few reported studies using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) to determine the ultrastructural features of these cells. It was hypothesized that at least a subpopulation of TMJ stromal cells could be represented by the telocytes, cells with telopodes. In this regard a TEM study was performed on rat TMJ samples. Collagen-embedded

Electrical conduction system apoptosis in type II diabetes mellitus

Even though apoptosis is known to be associated with various cardiovascular pathologies, its presence in cardiac nodal tissue in adults was only scarcely researched. Cardiomyocyte apoptosis was associated with diabetic cardiovascular pathology. Our main objective was to test whether programmed cell death is present in nodal tissue in type II diabetes mellitus and, if present to characterize it. The study was designed as a qualitative one. We used

Sudden cardiac death due to triple myocardial bridging associated with atypical coronary topography

Myocardial bridging (MB) is defined as the presence of an intramural course of a coronary artery, most likely caused by a defect in resorption of the musculature that encircles the epicardial arteries during morphogenesis. We present a case of the young man who died suddenly while playing professional football and whose cause of death was acute myocardial infarction associated with multiple myocardial bridges (1.8 cm on the anterior interventricular

c-kit expression in somatosensory nuclei of lower medulla oblongata

Protein kinase signal-transduction pathways play critical roles in regulating nociception. The c-kit receptor contributes to pain regulation in the spinal cord and is present on both peripheral and central terminals. Expression of c-kit was demonstrated in human trigeminal and spinal ganglia. However, the brainstem expression of c-kit was overlooked. We aimed to evaluate it by immunohistochemistry, on eight samples of human lower medulla oblongata.

Anoctamin 1 Positive Esophageal Interstitial Cajal Cells in Late Stage Human Embryos

Interstitial cells of Cajal (ICCs) are located in various smooth muscle organs and act as pacemaker cells, or ensure neuromodulation or mechanosensory roles. The study aims to investigate functional states of human ICCs in morphogenesis, focusing on the anoctamin 1 phenotype. The investigation was performed in five late stage human embryos with lengths varying between 23 and 29 mm. Immunohistochemistry on paraffin embedded specimens was performed
