premii Ad Astra

Asociația Ad Astra a anunțat câștigătorii Premiilor Ad Astra 2022: http://premii.ad-astra.ro/. Proiectul și-a propus identificarea și popularizarea modelelor de succes, a rezultatelor excepționale ale cercetătorilor români din țară și din afara ei.

Asociatia Ad Astra a cercetatorilor romani lanseaza BAZA DE DATE A CERCETATORILOR ROMANI DIN DIASPORA.

New basis functions for the representation of vapor pressure data

In this work, Wagner's formulation and methodology for the representation of vapor pressure data have been extended by using new basis functions, obtained by analytical integration of Clausius–Clapeyron equation assuming a Watson like formulation for the heat of vaporization. The proposed rational base functions are more flexible and lead to higher accuracy in data fitting, comparing favorably to Wagner's equations. Even for a few components, a

The correlated behavior of sandbars and foredunes on a nontidal coast (Danube Delta, Romania)

Coastal foredunes, shoreline and nearshore sandbars compose one large-scale interactive morphological system. Although the variability of these coastal features and their connection to environmental factors have been the focus of many analyses, the direct interactions between them are yet poorly identified, especially for natural nontidal coasts. This paper presents the preliminary results regarding the correlated behavior of the foredunes, shoreline

The wind regime of Romania – characteristics, trends and North Atlantic Oscillation influences

The present study attempts to develop a comprehensive perspective of the wind regime on the Romanian territory, focusing on the characteristics and tendencies encountered over the past 50 years, as well as on the NAO projection on it, using several data categories gathered from 167 meteorological stations. Based on the recorded multiannual averages and on the strong correlation (r = 0.87) established between altitude and wind speed in wind exposed

Intra-site differences in nearshore bar behavior on a nontidal beach (Sulina-Sf. Gheorghe, Danube Delta coast)

Long-term, cyclic offshore migration is a common occurrence on many multiple-barred beaches. The inter-site variability of this behavior was documented to be related to differences in certain key geometric parameters. Besides the inter-site variability, there also appears to be considerable intra-site variability in sandbar behavior, factors controlling these differences not being properly understood. A 6-year bathymetric dataset collected along

Serum Vitamin D and C-Reactive Protein Levels Are Independently Associated With Diastolic Dysfunction.
Cordocytes-stem cells cooperation in the human brain with emphasis on pivotal role of cordocytes in perivascular areas of broken and thrombosed vessels

This study is based on data analysis by light and transmission electron microscopy of the surgical cases in cerebral tumors, cerebrovascular malformations, thromboses in the carotid system, and other injuries such as perivascular hemorrhage. We examined cortical arteries and veins, perivascular areas with old hematic masses, vasculogenic foci, and broken large vessels. We identified, characterized, and compared both undifferentiated cells and well-differentiated

The importance of ecosystem services for rural inhabitants in a changing cultural landscape in Romania

Many traditional cultural landscapes evolved as coupled social-ecological systems. It is important to understand how such systems navigate novel challenges posed by globalization. To address this issue, we bring together two components of a study carried out in a cultural landscape from Central Romania. The region was affected by major social and economic perturbations in the past century, affecting ethnic composition, community cohesion, land property

Airborne LIDAR data and GIS technique outputs over Romanian Danube Plain with a special attention on geomorphology

Airborne LIDAR technique by its specifications and characteristics in terms of precision of the numerical terrain model and the use of the GIS technique can be used in geomorphology. REELD campaign (elaboration of a precise numerical model of the terrain over the whole Romanian Danube Plain with more than 600,000 ha distributed along 1,000 km and variable widths from 1 to 80 km large were scan from 600 m altitude) represented an opportunity for the
