premii Ad Astra

Asociația Ad Astra a anunțat câștigătorii Premiilor Ad Astra 2022: http://premii.ad-astra.ro/. Proiectul și-a propus identificarea și popularizarea modelelor de succes, a rezultatelor excepționale ale cercetătorilor români din țară și din afara ei.

Asociatia Ad Astra a cercetatorilor romani lanseaza BAZA DE DATE A CERCETATORILOR ROMANI DIN DIASPORA.

Electrochemical studies on cerium (III) in molten fluorides

This study aims to determine the principal electrochemical characteristics of the electrodeposition of cerium metal from molten fluoride systems. The cathodic process of Ce3+ ions in LiF-NaF and LiF-NaF-CaF2 molten salts was studied using electrochemical techniques as steady state and cyclic voltammetry methods. The decomposition potential (Ed) and the overvoltage(

Early and late coexistence of apoptosis and paraptosis in perivascular vasculogenic focuses and posttraumatic cerebral arteries, and their pathophysiologic significance

Introduction. This study is to understand the nature and functional significance of the activated cell death programs during events of the postnatal vasculogenesis and late changes after neurotrauma. Methods. We used light and transmission electron microscopy to describe changes of the cells in vasculogenic focuses and dying cells in the damaged arteries. Results. Vasculogenic focuses were composed of a nondifferentiated cell population including

Multifaceted intracranial neuroprotection by means of the ultimate intelligent and efficient defender: the interstitial cell. A new cytodynamic perspective

Introduction. This study is to understand the full role of the ICs of the human cerebral arteries, because their function is now scarcely known. Methods. We used light, transmission and scanning electron microscopy to describe distribution, morphology and cell interaction regarding ICs identified in the brain in clinical conditions after surgery. Results. We observed ICs located along the arterial surface as well as on the cortical surface with different

Properties of finite Gaussians and the discrete-continuous transition

Weyl’s formulation of quantum mechanics opened the possibility of studying the dynamics of quantum systems both in infinite-dimensional and finite-dimensional systems. Based on Weyl’s approach, generalized by Schwinger, a self-consistent theoretical framework describing physical systems characterized by a finite-dimensional space of states has been created. The used mathematical formalism is further developed by adding finite-dimensional versions

Alternative splicing results in RET isoforms with distinct trafficking properties

RET encodes a receptor tyrosine kinase that is essential for spermatogenesis, development of the sensory, sympathetic, parasympathetic, and enteric nervous systems and the kidneys, as well as for maintenance of adult midbrain dopaminergic neurons. RET is alternatively spliced to encode multiple isoforms that differ in their C-terminal amino acids. The RET9 and RET51 isoforms display unique levels of autophosphorylation and have differential interactions

Giant magnetocaloric effect in Tm-based bulk metallic glasses

We report that the maximum magnetic entropy change ΔSm of Tm39Ho16Co20Al25 metallic glass can reach 18.3 Jkg−1K−1 under 5 T, which is larger than that of any previously reported metallic glasses and comparable with that of the giant magnetocaloric effect material Gd5Si2Ge2 compound. Even under low magnetic fieldof2 T, the ΔSm of the glass can reach 10.3 Jkg−1K−1 which is even larger that of most of other metallic glasses under 5 T. The
