Research on virtual teams (VTs) has proliferated in the last decades. However, few clear and consistent theoretical attempts to integrate the literature on VTs in a systemic way have emerged. This paper uses the complex adaptive systems (CAS) perspective to integrate the literature on emergent states in VTs. According to this general framework, VT effectiveness depends on the interaction between three levels of dynamics: local, global and contextual.
Read moreAutophagy regulates cell survival and cell death upon various cellular stresses, yet the molecular signaling events involved are not well defined. Here, we established the function of a proteolytic Cyclin E fragment (p18-CycE) in DNA damage-induced autophagy, apoptosis, and senescence. p18-CycE was identified in hematopoietic cells undergoing DNA damage-induced apoptosis. In epithelial cells exposed to DNA damage, chronic but not transient expression
Read moreThe antiapoptotic BCL-2 proteins regulate lymphocyte survival and are over-expressed in lymphoid malignancies, including chronic lymphocytic leukemia. The small molecule inhibitor ABT-737 binds with high affinity to BCL-2, BCL-XL, and BCL-W but with low affinity to MCL-1, BFL-1, and BCL-B. The active analog of ABT-737, navitoclax, has shown a high therapeutic index in lymphoid malignancies; developing a predictive marker for it would be clinically
Read moreThe western Himalaya, Karakoram and Tibet are known to be heterogeneous with regard to Pb isotope compositions in K-feldspars, which allows this system to be used as a sediment provenance tool. We used secondary ion mass spectrometry to measure the isotopic character of silt and sand-sized grains from the modern Sutlej and Chenab Rivers, together with Thar Desert sands, in order to constrain their origin. The rivers show a clear Himalayan provenance,

Read moreIn this paper, we computed Gini coefficient in function of technological progress modeled using agent-based methodology in the frame of NetLogo software. We start from the simplest type of society (agrarian society), continue with the industrial one where we model the phenomenon of industrial revolution with four waves, and end with green revolution with other four waves. The conclusion is that technological progress has a negative influence on equality
Read moreThe discoloration of waters containing Congo red using Fenton reagent was studied at different pH values and different temperatures. The results reported a significant discoloration after 5 min, at pH = 3.50 and temperature of 55 oC. In these conditions, it was obtained a color removal (CR) equal to 75.6 ± 5 and a relative discoloration rate of 14.12 % / min. Apparent activation energy was determined using the Arrhenius equation. The value of Ea
