premii Ad Astra

Asociația Ad Astra a anunțat câștigătorii Premiilor Ad Astra 2022: http://premii.ad-astra.ro/. Proiectul și-a propus identificarea și popularizarea modelelor de succes, a rezultatelor excepționale ale cercetătorilor români din țară și din afara ei.

Asociatia Ad Astra a cercetatorilor romani lanseaza BAZA DE DATE A CERCETATORILOR ROMANI DIN DIASPORA.

Stabilisation of β-NiMoO4 in TiO2-supported catalysts

NiMoO4 catalysts supported on TiO2 (anatase) were prepared using two procedures: (i) wet impregnation of the support with an aqueous suspension of NiMoO4 and (ii) direct precipitation of NiMoO4 on the support surface using solutions of nickel nitrate and ammonia heptamolybdate. The catalysts and their precursors were characterised by XRD and TG/DTA and the catalytic behaviour of TiO2-supported NiMoO4 for the oxidative dehydrogenation of isobutane

oxydehydrogenation on SiO2-supported nickel molybdate catalysts: Effect of the active phase loading

The oxidative dehydrogenation of isobutane over SiO2-supported and unsupported NiMoO4 was studied under steady state conditions and the effect of active phase loading analysed. The SiO2-supported catalysts were prepared by direct precipitation of NiMoO4 on the support and characterised by BET, X-ray diffraction and temperature-programmed desorption of NH3. Used catalysts were characterised by thermal analysis. Results show that, in SiO2-supported

Ni(2,2′-bipyridine)(2)Cl2 encapsulated in Y zeolite new catalyst for ethylene dimerization

Catalysts containing Ni(2,2′-bipyridine)2Cl2 complex (K) encapsulated in Y zeolite cages (Ke/Y) or obtained by impregnation–complexation (Ki–c/Y), co-activated with AlCl(C2H5)2 show good activity and selectivity for ethylene dimerization at 333 K and W/F = 37 gcat h (moles C2H4)−1 molar contact time. Ke/Y co-activated with AlCl(C2H5)2 led to an ethylene conversion of 72.5% and 74.5% selectivity to C4H8, the prevailing isomer being 1-butylene.

1-Octene metathesis on silica supported Zr-doped NiMoO4 catalysts

This work presents results concerning the catalytic behaviour of silica-supported Zirconium (Zr)-doped NiMoO4 catalyst (NiMoZr1%Si) in the metathesis of 1-octene compared to that of the pure NiMoO4 (NiMo) and the un-doped supported catalyst (NiMoSi). The effect of doping on the physico-chemical properties of the catalysts is also investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transformed infrared (FTIR), Raman spectroscopy, Brunnauer-Emmet-Teller

The effect of ageing step elimination on the memory effect presented by Mg0.75Al0.25 hydrotalcites (HT) and their catalytic activity for cyanoethylation reaction

The absence of ageing step in the coprecipitation method leads to modification of textural and structural properties of Mg0.75Al0.25 hydrotalcites which are reflected in the “memory effect” and in the catalytic activity of these samples for cyanoethylation reaction between ethanol and acrylonitrile where the betaethoxypropionitrile is the prevailing reaction product. The solids were characterised by XRD, DRIFT, TEM and base sites determination

Obtaining of Clinoptilolitic Extrudates for Environmental Applications II. Statistical analysis of plasticizer and shear stress effects

A 2-way factorial design was used for the study of rheological properties of clinoptilolite pastes. For all clinoptilolite samples, studies were performed for 4 levels of plasticizer content in ceramic mixtures and 7 levels for shear rate γ variation, without replicates. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) was conducted with MathCAD software (version 14.0). Comparisons among treatments were analysed using Fisher’s least significant difference, with

Sixty tracheal resections–single center experience.

This study evaluates the clinical outcome following surgery of our patients for the last seven years. Between 2001 and 2008 we performed tracheal resections in 60 patients. There were 46 cases of postintubation stenosis and 14 tumors. The range of resected rings was 1-8. The maximal resection length performed in our series (4 cm) was achieved using only basic releasing maneuvers such as anterior dissection of the trachea and cervical flexion. Emergency

Intrapleural thoracolithiasis: a rare intrathoracic pearl-like lesion.

Pleural stone or thoracolithiasis is a very rare condition with only 16 cases treated by surgery reported in the literature. We report the case of a 66-year-old patient in whom the pleural stone was thought to be a posterior mediastinal tumor. Exploratory thoracoscopy revealed a 1.5-cm "pearl"-like lesion in the pleural cavity that was easily removed, with an uncomplicated postoperative outcome. As thoracic surgeons, we have to consider this condition
