Rezumat:
Two photochemical processes (H2O2/UV and photo- Fenton) have been experimentally investigated, in comparison with ozonation, for the degradation of the Disperse Red 354 azo dye in water. The effectiveness has been evaluated through three conversions: decolorization degree (X1), COD reduction (X2), and TOC reduction (X3). The decolorization degree at a given time in the three processes decreased in the order : photo- Fenton > ozonation > UV / H2O2. At a 60 minutes reaction time, for instance, the decolorization degree was 98.6% (photo- Fenton), 74.7 % (ozonation), and 48.0 % (UV/ H2 O2). The apparent first order rate constant, identified on the basis of experimental data obtained, was 13.266 times greater in the photo-Fenton process than in the O3 process, while in the UV/ H2O2 was 5% smaller. The influence of the Lyocol dispersing agent on the dye photodegradation has been studied. Some mechanistic considerations are made in order to explain the different performances of the three processes.
