Rezumat:
The Sarmatian foraminiferal assemblages from the southern Transylvanian Basin were described and interpreted in order to investigate space and time distribution of the different Sarmatian foraminiferal assemblages and species, and to determine the relationships between the foraminiferal assemblages and depositional environments. Our results have shown that every depositional environment can be characterized by specific foraminiferal assemblages which are associated to facies controlled other microfossils e.g. ostracods. Based on the planktonic foraminifera first described from the Sarmatian a new biozone with Streptochilus were proposed, and new paleogeographical connections were inferred for the Transylvanian Basin and the Central Paratethys respectively.
