Studies regarding antioxidative properties of plant extracts for cosmetic purposes using photochemiluminiscence

The use of natural antioxidants found in plants represents a worldwide trend for food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic products (1–4). There are a variety of spectrometric and chemiluminometric analytical methods available, applied for antioxidant properties evaluation (3–6). This paper deals with recent original studies regarding the evolution of antioxidative properties for some alcoholic extracts of plant material used in cosmetics: poplar leaf-buds,

Determination of organic compounds from different types of coffee by HPLC and GC-ECD analysis

A study was conducted to investigate the organic compounds residues in different types of coffee from market in Romania. High pressure liquid chromatography with fluorescence detector (HPLC), respectively gas chromatography with electron capture detection (GC-ECD) was used for the determination of 7 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and 9 oganochlorine pesticides (OCPs) in coffee samples. It was found that concentrations of PAHs in coffee samples

Assessment of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in honey and propolis produced from various flowering trees and plants in Romania

Honey and propolis samples from different flowering plants in 15 regions of Romania, collected from beekeepers and the local market during the period 2002–2005, were analyzed to detect 15 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). An analytical procedure based on previous liquid–liquid extraction (LLE) with hexane, after which the extract was cleaned up in a mixture of silica gel, aluminum oxide and anhydrous sodium sulfate column, has been developed.
