On the Young’s modulus of a auxetic composite structure

In this paper, the behavior of auxetic composites is interpreted in the light of Cosserat elasticity which admits degrees of freedom not present in the classical elasticity: The rotation of points in the material, and a couple per unit area or the couple stress. The prediction of the Young’s modulus is developed for a laminated periodic material made up of alternating aluminum and auxetic material, by using the Bécus homogenization technique.

On the free vibrations of a piezoceramic hollow sphere

The aim of the paper is to analyze the free vibrations of a piezoceramic hollow sphere with radial polarization. Using the cnoidal method and a genetic algorithm solves the equations of a radially inhomogeneous spherically isotropic piezoelastic medium. The Reddy and the cosine laws represent the functionally graded property of material. It is seen that for a piezoceramic hollow sphere, the piezoelectric effect consists in increasing the values for

An inverse problem for the motion of blood in small vessels

In this paper, the blood motion in vessels with small radius is analyzed. The blood is modeled as a micromorphic fluid containing deformable material particles with 12 degrees of freedom: three translations, three rotations and six stretch and shears. Seven micromorphic viscosity coefficients are introduced as a function of the initial particle concentration and are reconstructed by a genetic algorithm based on experimental data.

Introducere in nanomecanica

The main aim of nanomechanics is the modeling and characterization of the mechanical behavior of nanostructured materials and nanoelectromechanical systems. Scientific developments in this area include the creation of new materials with novel mechanical properties based on tailored nanostructures, understanding how mechanical responses and nonlinearities are influenced by building structures and components at the nanometer length scale, the atomistic-continuum

Advanced Mechanics on Shells and Intelligent Structures

New computer resources and innovations in the field of intelligent materials, sensors and actuators, yield in recent years to an explosion of research centred on the optimum design of structures. Nevertheless, a gap persists between mathematical theories concerning intelligent structures and the achieving of practical engineering constructions. This book bridged the span contributing with theories and models to succeed the match of both mathematical

Tne Inverse Problems in Mechanics (Probleme inverse in mecanica)

Inverse problems have a well-recognized position in research field of mathematics and its applications. The inverse problem reverses the role between the unknowns and the data. The book addresses the practical and concrete resolution methods for certain inverse problems related to material properties and behavior: the inverse Lagrange problem, determination of elastic constants of a monoclinic crystal, the behavior of initially deformed metallic
