premii Ad Astra

Asociația Ad Astra a anunțat câștigătorii Premiilor Ad Astra 2022: http://premii.ad-astra.ro/. Proiectul și-a propus identificarea și popularizarea modelelor de succes, a rezultatelor excepționale ale cercetătorilor români din țară și din afara ei.

Asociatia Ad Astra a cercetatorilor romani lanseaza BAZA DE DATE A CERCETATORILOR ROMANI DIN DIASPORA.

The Independence of Kosovo in the Light of the Regional Security Complex Theory

Regional security complex theory posits that whereas in the early 1990s the Balkans seemed to become a separate regional security complex, in fact it was a case of overlay. Starting with the Kosovo war the Balkans became a sub-complex within the EU-European regional security complex. Taking as a case study the fact that the West's recognition of Kosovo's unilateral declaration of independence in February 2008 backfired in the post-Soviet space with

The Impossible Trinity and the Prospects for an European Fiscal Union

After reviewing some of the recent EU economic governance reform provisions, the paper discusses three main in-built vulnerabilities of the euro area: the absence of co-responsibility for public debt; the strict prohibition of monetary financing; and the vicious circle represented by the fact that states are individually responsible for rescuing banks in their jurisdictions, but banks are exposed to their own governments through their holding of

Microarray-based comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH) between basic research and clinical diagnostic

In the vast spectrum of human pathology, a significant proportion is represented by genetic disorders. To elucidate the mechanisms leading to disease, various approaches have been used: G-banded karyotyping and FISH allow the survey of the entire genome for large aberrations or analysis of pre-defined segments, while sequencing detects nucleotide alterations with the prior requirement of knowing which DNA segment to address. The last two decades

Wood-pastures in a traditional rural region of Eastern Europe: Characteristics, management and status

Wood-pastures are among the oldest land-use types in Europe and have high ecological and cultural importance. They are under rapid decline all over Europe because of changes in land use, decline of scattered trees, and lack of regeneration. In this study we characterized the structure, condition and threats of wood-pastures in a traditional rural region in Romania. Forty-two wood-pastures were surveyed, as well as 15 forest sites for comparison.

SPONTANEOUS SPECIES WITH ORNAMENTAL POTENTIAL: ASTER OLEIFOLIUS (LAM.) WAGENITZ (I) – MORPHOLOGY, ECOLOGY, CHOROLOGY

Morphological characters and environmental factors requirements for Aster oleifolius (Lam.) Wagenitz [syn. A. villosus (L.) Sch.Bip; Linosyris villosa (L.)DC.] (Asteraceae) are presented as arguments to introduce this species among the ornamental plants. A chorology map, based on the original or collected data from different herbaria from Romania and references, gives the country spread of this species.

THE CHOROLOGY OF ARTEMISIA ALBA TURRA, A. LERCHIANA WEBER AND A. TSCHERNIEVIANA BESSER (ASTERACEAE) IN ROMANIA

The paper presents chorological data concerning Artemisia alba Turra, Artemisia lerchiana Weber, and Artemisia tschernieviana Besser (Asteraceae) in Romania. These species of Artemisia are considered rare in Romania. Chorological data regarding Artemisia alba, A. lerchiana and A. tscherneviana distributions are presented using bibliographical information, data from different Herbaria of Romania and original data collected from fieldwork. STUDIES TO SUPPORT THE PROCLAMATION OF PEONY AS ROMANIA’S NATIONAL FLOWER.

Many countries have one or more national flowers representative of the geographic area or culture and traditions. In Romania, several proposals have been made for choosing a national flower but none of the proposals has been finalized by a legislative act to formalize the national flower. The authors of this article suggest that peony be proclaimed Romania's national flower. Among the arguments of this proposal there are: peony species with high

1H NMR spectroscopic characterization of inclusion complexes of tolfenamic and flufenamic acids with b-cyclodextrin

The complexation between the anionic forms of tolfenamic acid and flufenamic acid with b-cyclodextrin was investigated in solution by 1D and 2D proton NMR spectroscopy. The stoichiometry of the complexes was determined by the method of continuous variation using the chemical induced shifts of both the host and guest protons. An analysis of the spectroscopic data revealed that simultaneous inclusion of both rings of tolfenamic and flufenamic acids
