premii Ad Astra

Asociația Ad Astra a anunțat câștigătorii Premiilor Ad Astra 2022: http://premii.ad-astra.ro/. Proiectul și-a propus identificarea și popularizarea modelelor de succes, a rezultatelor excepționale ale cercetătorilor români din țară și din afara ei.

Asociatia Ad Astra a cercetatorilor romani lanseaza BAZA DE DATE A CERCETATORILOR ROMANI DIN DIASPORA.

Method for the multi-criteria optimization of car wheel suspension mechanisms. Ingeniería e Investigación, vol. 36, nr. 2, August 2016, p. 60-67, ISSN 0120-5609, DOI 10.15446/ing.investig.v36n2.52517

The paper deals with a general method for the multi-criteria optimization of the rear wheels suspension mechanisms in terms of kinematic behavior. The suspension mechanism is decomposed in basic binary links, and the kinematic synthesis is separately performed for each of them. The design variables are the global coordinates of the joint locations on the car body (chassis). The disposing of the joints on the wheel carrier were exclusively established

Enhancing mud supply from the Lower Missouri River to the Mississippi River Delta USA: Dam bypassing and coastal restoration

Sand transport to the Mississippi River Delta (MRD) remains sufficient to build wetlands in shallow, sheltered coastal bays fed by engineered diversions on the Mississippi River (MR) and its Atchafalaya River (AR) distributary. But suspended mud (silt & clay) flux to the coast has dropped from a mean of 390 Mt y−1 in the early 1950s, to 100 Mt y−1 since 1970. This fine-grained sediment travels deeper into receiving estuarine basins and

Inelastic scattering of electrons by metastable hydrogen atoms in a laser field

The inelastic scattering of fast electrons by metastable hydrogen atoms in the presence of a linearly polarized laser field is theoretically studied in the domain of field intensities below 10^10 W/cm2. The interaction of the hydrogen atom with the laser field is described by first-order time-dependent perturbation theory, while the projectile electrons interacting with the laser field are described by the Gordon-Volkov wave functions. An analytic

The Minimum Entropy Submodular Set Cover Problem

We study minimum entropy submodular set cover, a variant of the submodular set cover problem (Wolsey, Fujito, etc) that generalizes the minimum entropy set cover problem (Halperin and Karp, Cardinal et al.) We give a general bound of the approximation performance of the greedy algorithm using an approach that can be interpreted in terms of a particular type of biased network flows. As an application we rederive known results for the Minimum Entropy
