premii Ad Astra

Asociația Ad Astra a anunțat câștigătorii Premiilor Ad Astra 2022: http://premii.ad-astra.ro/. Proiectul și-a propus identificarea și popularizarea modelelor de succes, a rezultatelor excepționale ale cercetătorilor români din țară și din afara ei.

Asociatia Ad Astra a cercetatorilor romani lanseaza BAZA DE DATE A CERCETATORILOR ROMANI DIN DIASPORA.

Practical Experience in Use of the Neutron Moisture Gauges

In order to perform a continuous monitoring of the humidity of coke inside furnace, the neutron moisture gauge-NMG- is recommended. A good calibration made for the NMG leads to an increased its efficiency. We study the influence of the coke’s granulation on the NMG results. Also, a fast calibration method for NMG is proposed. Using the results of this research, the costs of the radioprotection are strongly diminished, without affecting the accuracy

Application of stable isotopes and lipid analysis to understand trophic interactions in springtails

The combination of nitrogen and carbon isotope ratios with fatty acids (FA) analysis is a useful tool for food web studies in cryptic belowground systems. The study investigates trophic niche diferentiation of Collembola communities from the litter of two Romanian beech forests and determines the origin of posible food sources consumed by springtails using fatty acid technique. δ15N signatures of Collembola taxa in the investigated food web spanned

Detection of food in the gut content of Heteromurus nitidus (Hexapoda: Collembola) by DNA/PCR-based molecular analysis

The paper reports a feeding experiment showing that Heteromurus nitidus, a widespread and common springtail species found in a variety of habitats rich in organic matter, was capable of feeding upon nematodes in the laboratory. DNA/PCR based molecular gut analysis of Heteromurus nitidus for two nematode species, namely Phasmarhabditis hermaphodita and Steinernema feltiae, and one soil alga, Chlorococcum infusionum, was done in the laboratory using

New species of Deuteraphorura (Collembola: Onychiuridae) from Romania

The description of two new species of the genus Deuteraphorura Absolon, 1901 from Doftana Valley, Romania is given. Deuteraphorura dianae sp. nov. has the pseudocellar formula dorsally: 32/033/33353 and ventrally: 3/011/3112. Deuteraphorura doftana sp. nov. is characterized by its dorsal (33/033/33354) and ventral 3/011/3212) pseudocellar formulae. A proposed key to the all species of Deuteraphorura from the world without pseudocelli on the thoracic

Tetracanthella doftana sp. nov. (Collembola, Isotomidae) from Romania, with a key to Carpathian Tetracanthella Schött, 1891

A new species of the Tetracanthella pilosa group is described from Romanian Carpathians. T. doftana sp. nov. is similar to T. andalusiaca Deharveng, 1987. They differ by the number of sublobal hairs, size of macrochaetae and distribution. A key to Carpathian Tetracanthella Schött, 1891 species is also given.

Rapid Diagnosis by Multiplex PCR Technology at Patients with Acute Respiratory Infections

PCR offer a number of potential advantages, results are available in a matter of hours rather than days, the extreme sensibility facilitates detection of even minutes the amounts of pathogen DNA in clinical samples and the test is not significantly affected by prior administration of antibiotics. Aim: The aim of this work was to rapidly identify the antibiotic resistance the monitoring of pathogen growth at the patients admitted in Hospitalization

Behavior of mixed DMPC-cholesterol monolayers at the air/water interface

The phase behaviour of cholesterol (CHO) and dimyristoyl phosphatidyl choline (DMPC) monolayers at the air/water interface was investigated by surface pressure measurements using Langmuir technique. Compression isotherms and isobars as functions of composition were represented, and the surface compressibility modulus was calculated, in order to characterize the physical states of the monolayers. At a constant lateral surface pressure, the monolayers
