Two photochemical processes (H2O2/UV and photo- Fenton) have been experimentally investigated, in comparison with ozonation, for the degradation of the Disperse Red 354 azo dye in water. The effectiveness has been evaluated through three conversions: decolorization degree (X1), COD reduction (X2), and TOC reduction (X3). The decolorization degree at a given time in the three processes decreased in the order : photo- Fenton > ozonation > UV / H2O2.

The objective of this work was a critical evaluation of analytical methods for the determination of the chemical oxygen demand (COD) in samples with elevated chloride concentrations. The precision and accuraca of test kits commercially available were compared with a German standards method.
