Effect of in-flight particle velocity on the performance of APS YSZ electrolyte

In this paper, the effect of particle velocity on the characteristics of atmospheric plasma-sprayed yttria stabilized zirconia was investigated through adjusting auxiliary helium flow rate. The temperature and velocity of in-flight particles were measured with the DPV2000 diagnostic system. The results showed that helium flow rate significantly influenced particle velocity and less distinctly influenced particle temperature. The microstructure of

Characterization of atmospheric plasma-sprayed Sc2O3–ZrO2 electrolyte coating

Sc2O3 stabilized ZrO2 (ScSZ) coating in free standing planar shape was prepared by atmospheric plasma spraying (APS) using ScSZ powder consisting of 10 mol% Sc2O3. ScSZ powder was prepared by solid phase reaction followed by sintering and screening processes. The coating microstructure was characterized using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The electrical conductivity of ScSZ coating was measured using both DC and AC approaches.

Significant influences of metal reactivity and oxide films at particle surfaces on coating microstructure in cold spraying,

Based on large amount of experimental observations, the effects of metal reactivity and oxide films at particle surfaces on coating deposition behavior in cold spraying were presented and discussed. The oxygen contents in as-sprayed Ti, Ti–6Al–4V and Al coatings were higher than those in the corresponding starting powders. The obvious flashing jets outside nozzle exit during deposition of Ti and Ti–6Al–4V were caused by the reaction of the

Ionic Conductivity and its Temperature Dependence of Atmospheric Plasma Sprayed Yttria Stabilized Zirconia Electrolyte

In this study, yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) electrolytes were deposited using 8 mol% and 4.5 mol% YSZ powders by atmospheric plasma spraying (APS). The ionic conductivity of the obtained YSZ electrolytes was measured by the means of DC measurement and AC impedance spectroscopy, in a temperature range of 600-1000 oC. The ionic conductivity of 8 mol% YSZ coating is about 50% higher than that of 4.5 mol% YSZ coating. Furthermore, for the same specimen,
