premii Ad Astra

Asociația Ad Astra a anunțat câștigătorii Premiilor Ad Astra 2022: http://premii.ad-astra.ro/. Proiectul și-a propus identificarea și popularizarea modelelor de succes, a rezultatelor excepționale ale cercetătorilor români din țară și din afara ei.

Asociatia Ad Astra a cercetatorilor romani lanseaza BAZA DE DATE A CERCETATORILOR ROMANI DIN DIASPORA.

US Marginal Intra-Industry Trade and Country Characteristics

This study examines the marginal intra-industry trade (MIIT) and its components horizontally and marginal vertical intra-industry trade (MVIIT) applied to the United States. We present an alternative methodology to evaluate marginal intra-industry trade (MIIT) which was presented by Thom and McDowell (1999) and Azhar and Elliot (2008). Using a panel data approach, the results show a negative correlation between endowments and marginal intra-industry

•GMM Estimator: An Application to Intra-Industry Trade

This paper investigates the determinants of intraindustry trade IIT, horizontal IIT HIIT, and Vertical IIT VIIT in the automobile industry in Portugal. The trade in this sector between Portugal and the European Union EU-27 was examined, between 1995 and 2008, using a dynamic panel data.We apply the GMM system to solve the problems of serial correlation and the endogeneity of some explanatory variables. The findings are consistent with the

A classification of two dimensional integrable mappings and rational elliptic surfaces

We classify two-dimensional integrable mappings by investigating the actions on the fiber space of rational elliptic surfaces. While the QRT mappings can be restricted on each fiber, there exist several classes of integrable mappings which exchange fibers. We also show an equivalent condition when a generalized Halphen surface becomes a Halphen surface of index m.

About the Maximal Monotonicity of the Generalized Sum of Two Maximal Monotone Operators

We give several regularity conditions, both closedness and interior point type, that ensure the maximal monotonicity of the generalized sum of two stronglyrepresentablemonotone operators, and we extend some recent results concerning on the same problem.

“The Typology and Novelty of Eastern European Revolutions”

The study suggests a fresh look on the Eastern Europe revolutions. Firstly, it argues that Western scholarship failed to recognize the novelty of Eastern European revolutions at the time of their occurring and their aftermath. Secondly, grounded in the “path-dependent” school of thought and privileging a dual long and short term comparative approach, the study introduces a typology of Eastern European revolutions. Thirdly, it argues that the

The shark game: equilibrium with bounded rationality

We propose an intuitive toy model of a financial market where investors are represented by hungry sharks. Each shark learns the best strategy through a trial and error procedure calibrated to human characteristics. The mix of rewards for eating or not can create a large array of scenarios that can be used to observe the emergence of equilibrium from simple to more realistic situations. Using an agent-based model we create an environment where sharks

Advances in Asphaltene Science and the Yen–Mullins Model

The Yen–Mullins model, also known as the modified Yen model, specifies the predominant molecular and colloidal structure of asphaltenes in crude oils and laboratory solvents and consists of the following: The most probable asphaltene molecular weight is 750 g/mol, with the island molecular architecture dominant. At sufficient concentration, asphaltene molecules form nanoaggregates with an aggregation number less than 10. At higher concentrations,

Laser interferometry for nano- technologies and sciences

Due to the nature of interference phenomenon, optical interferometry allows for very precise measurements to be achieved. Recent discoveries extended the purpose and precision of interferometry and made it more practical and applicable. It was also revolutionized by intensive usage of photodetectors and digital signal processing electronics. Both, specular and speckle interference were used to investigate displacements, vibrations and wavefronts
