premii Ad Astra

Asociația Ad Astra a anunțat câștigătorii Premiilor Ad Astra 2022: http://premii.ad-astra.ro/. Proiectul și-a propus identificarea și popularizarea modelelor de succes, a rezultatelor excepționale ale cercetătorilor români din țară și din afara ei.

Asociatia Ad Astra a cercetatorilor romani lanseaza BAZA DE DATE A CERCETATORILOR ROMANI DIN DIASPORA.

Using Netlogo in the training-learning process of Social Sciences

Netlogo is an agent-based simulation software that can be used for simulations in Social Sciences. I describe the essential features of this software application and the model party implemented using this simulation environment. I use the party model with a certain configuration in order to see the effects of tolerance on social equilibrium. The conclusion is that a higher tolerance permits a rapid social equilibrium while a lower tolerance offers

CLINICAL ANATOMY OF TRAUMATIC DEFORMITIES OF FINGERS EXTENSOR APONEUROSIS

ABSTRACT The main traumatic deformities of the extensor expansion (EE) are the boutonnière lesion (BL) and the mallet finger (MF). The classical BL is characterized by flexion deformity at the proximal interphalangeal joint, with hyperextension of the metacarpophalangeal and terminal interphalangeal joint, caused by the rupture or division of the central slip of the EE in a finger. The MF is defined as a deformity resulting from loss of EE continuity

U-Pb zircon dating evidence for a Pleistocene Sarasvati River and capture of the Yamuna River

The Harappan Culture, one of the oldest known urban civilizations, thrived on the northwest edge of the Thar Desert (India and Pakistan) between 3200 and 1900 BCE. Its demise has been linked to rapid weakening of the summer monsoon at this time, yet reorganization of rivers may also have played a role. We sampled subsurface channel sand bodies predating ca. 4.0 ka and used U-Pb dating of zircon sand grains to constrain their provenance through comparison

Tertiary Flow Effects on a Co-axial Ducted Jet.

Long duct mixed flow exhaust systems operate as noise suppression devices under the concept that the surrounding secondary long duct shields some of the fine-scale turbulent mixing noise generated between the primary and secondary streams. Numerical results concerning a round co-axial ducted jet at Baseline (without tertiary flow effects) are compared against data obtained for two tertiary flow conditions of 0.15 and 0.30 co-flow Mach numbers (Mcf),

Patterns in pharyngeal airflow associated with sleep-disordered breathing.

Objective: To establish the feasibility of a noninvasive method to identify pharyngeal airflow characteristics in sleep-disordered breathing. Methods: Four patients with sleep-disordered breathing who underwent surgery or used positive airway pressure devices and four normal healthy controls were studied. Three-dimensional CT imaging and computational fluid dynamics modeling with standard steady-state numerical formulation were used to characterize

Church, State, and Democracy in Expanding Europe

Lavinia Stan and Lucian Turcescu examine the relationship between religion and politics in ten former communist Eastern European countries. Contrary to widespread theories of increasing secularization, Stan and Turcescu argue that in most of these countries, the populations have shown themselves to remain religious even as they embrace modernization and democratization. Church-state relations in the new EU member states can be seen in political representation

Thermal Behavior of Mechanically Alloyed Powders Used for Producing an Fe-Mn-Si-Cr-Ni Shape Memory Alloy

In order to produce shape memory rings for constrained-recovery pipe couplings, from Fe-14 Mn-6 Si-9 Cr-5 Ni (mass%) powders, the main technological steps were (i) mechanical alloying, (ii) sintering, (iii) hot rolling, (iv) hot-shape setting, and (v) thermomechanical training. The article generally describes, within its experimental-procedure section, the last four technological steps of this process the primary purpose of which has been to accurately
