premii Ad Astra

Asociația Ad Astra a anunțat câștigătorii Premiilor Ad Astra 2022: http://premii.ad-astra.ro/. Proiectul și-a propus identificarea și popularizarea modelelor de succes, a rezultatelor excepționale ale cercetătorilor români din țară și din afara ei.

Asociatia Ad Astra a cercetatorilor romani lanseaza BAZA DE DATE A CERCETATORILOR ROMANI DIN DIASPORA.

The human trigeminal ganglion: c-kit positive neurons and interstitial cells.

OBJECTIVES: The presence of c-kit positive neurons in sensory ganglia has been verified in various species but not in humans. Our aim has been to identify whether human primary trigeminal neurons label with c-kit/CD117 and thus, whether data gathered in animal studies can be extrapolated to humans. We also intended to establish whether, and which non-neuronal cells also label with c-kit in the trigeminal ganglion. METHODS: Human adult trigeminal

A low complexity proportionate affine projection algorithm for echo cancellation

Proportionate-type affine projection algorithms were devel-oped in the context of echo cancellation, as a generalization of the proportionate-type normalized least-mean-square algorithms. A matrix inversion is required within the affine projection algorithm (APA). In the case of proportionate-type APAs, the update of the matrix to be inverted is very computationally expensive. In this paper, an efficient update of this matrix is proposed and the

A Variable Step Size Evolutionary Affine Projection Algorithm

It is well known that the affine projection algorithm (APA) offers a good tradeoff between convergence rate/tracking and computational complexity. Recently, the evolutionary APA (E-APA) with a variable projection order has been proposed. In this paper, we propose a variable step size (VSS) version of the E-APA, called VSS-E-APA. It is shown that the VSS-E-APA is robust to near-end signal variations. Also, it has both a fast convergence speed and

The cancer has to be defeated

The cancer has made a lot of victims, and unfortunatelly he still continues to do this, without being stopped by the medicine. Beside cardiovascular diseases and HIV infection, the issue of cancer belongs first of all to the field of public health and scientifical medical research on which solving take part General Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Immunology, Endocrinology, Virology, human clinic, and so on. The cancer is an

Cardiac integration and vasculogenic properties of human umbilical cord blood- and Wharton’s jelly-derived progenitor cells

Introduction: The umbilical cord blood (UCB) and matrix (Wharton’s jelly, WJ) are rich sources of self-renewal, multiple-lineage differentiating cells, extensively proposed for cell replacement therapy. However, their ability to participate to cardiovascular tissue restoration has not been thoroughly elucidated. Objective: We employed a novel coculture system to investigate the capacity of human UCB-derived endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) and

Integration Properties of Wharton’s Jelly-derived Novel Mesenchymal Stem Cells into Ventricular Slices of Murine Hearts

Wharton’s jelly (WJ) is a rich source of multiple-lineage differentiating cells, recently proposed for cell replacement therapy. However, their ability to integrate into the cardiac tissue has not been elucidated, yet. We employed in vitro cardiac transplantation models to investigate the capacity of a novel population of human WJ-derived mesenchymal stem cells (nMSCs) to integrate into both living and ischemic cardiac tissue. NMSCs were characterized

CHANGES OF SERUM MAGNESIUM LEVELS IN PATIENTS WITH RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS STAGE I-II BEFORE TREATMENT

Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic disease of unknown etiology, manifested primarily by inflammation of the peripheral joints. The pathogenic mechanisms responsible for the onset and maintenance of the joint inflammation in RA still make it object of investigations. We will discuss some of the aspects of the involvement of magnesium (Mg) in the pathologic processes of RA. Objectives: To estimate the blood levels of Mg in a group of
